MURDER ON CHRISTMAS EVE Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house………..… a scream was heard, then silence. The Kringles had just moved into their new home two weeks earlier. A turn of the century mansion on a large estate. They had not even had the chance to go through all of the rooms yet. They quickly met a few neighbours and decided to have a Christmas Eve house warming party. The house was large, cold and a bit spooky at times. Rumors about the old estate echoed in the hallways. Something terrible had happened in this house many years before. It could certainly use some Christmas cheer. The night was cold and stormy, the wind gusting seemingly out of control. Merry Kringle had spent hours decorating in an attempt to make it festive in spite of the weather. The tree was gorgeous, and drew everyone’s attention as they entered the large home. The evening was going extraordinarily well and neighbours were mingling, enjoying food, drink and conversation. Suddenly the lights went out and they were left with only the glow of the centrepiece candles. As Mr. and Mrs. Kringle scurried around trying to locate more candles, an ear piercing scream rang through the rooms of the large home, then came a silence so pure you could hear everyone’s heartbeat. ______________________________________________________ SAMPLE OF CHARACTER LIST: Mr. Christopher Kringle- Tired of the fast paced city life, Christopher moved his family to a small community where he could set up practice as a family doctor, no more emergency room chaos. Somehow it is just not happening, it is a beautiful place but something feels off. Captain Morgan- The Captain has been with the rural police force for twenty years. Knows everyone in town and has heard all the stories and rumours. Lettit Snow- Lettit is a snow plow driver in the winter and a handy-man all year round. He has been doing work for the Kringles for the last two months, even before they moved in. First Snow- Lettit’s wife, First is a superstitious woman. She has heard the stories about this old mansion and is a bit leery of spending an entire evening there, especially when it is dark outside. Claire Voyante- Claire is a kind hearted woman, who arrived on the Kringle’s doorstep only hours after they moved in. She brought them a homemade apple pie to welcome them. She had a feeling they could use a little cheer. Ivy Wickens- Ivy runs a trinket store in town. A beautiful young woman, she has quickly befriended Mary and has given her tips on how to cosy up her new home. Ivy loves the mansion. AND MANY MORE.......
